Make a Scene

Thursday, March 28, 2013

Have you guys heard of this? Basically you play director for a moment, and make your own short film. How cool is that! You can find my little film I directed here.

It is actually quite fun! If you have a spare second try making your own little film :)
Have any of you lovelies made one?? Leave a link in the comments. I would love to see more!

Skate or Die

I am sorry for all the posts about wishing for summer, but here is just another reason as to why it needs to come faster. I just want to skateboard ok? I think I mentioned about a month ago that I had learned how to skateboard. Well really, I learned how to stand on the skateboard without falling off. Accomplishment!

Anyway, because it has been so dang cold I haven't been able to go outside and practice. Because I am the type of person who practices how to skateboard.. duh. So yeah, learning how to skateboard was probably the coolest thing I have ever done, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. So sunshine please come faster. Pretty please.

Do any of you lovely ladies skateboard? I sure hope I am not the only one.. because that would be sad.

Hello Spring

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Ok, so it might not really be spring yet considering Saturday it snowed like a foot. I don't want to talk about it.. but looking at the weather app on my phone is sure seems like it is coming! So here is an early hello to lovely spring. Here is to sunshine, flowers, and happiness. Like for real though, if it snows again I am moving. No joke.

There comes a certain point in the semester were all the sudden I become INSANELY busy, and all the sudden it's almost Easter.. yeah. Still trying to figure out how that happened. I wish I could say my life currently has been filled with crazy adventures, but alas that is not the case. Instead it has been filled with late night Del Taco runs, stare- downs at The Coffee Shop, Mason Jennings concerts with 30+ year olds (and some 14- year olds), hard gum, hair whipping, 2:30am youtube videos, photo taking, and One Direction discovering. But like really you guys, One Direction?? How have I never looked these boys up! They have like long hair, and tattoos and stuff! Why am I just figuring this out? I don't know what One Direction fans call themselves, but I will probably become one. My friend and I looked up their names and everything!

Some things to look forward to this week are evening walks, girl's night, photo taking, and of course concerts (because my week wouldn't be complete without them).

Anyone have fun plans for this week?

Dorothy Shoes

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

You guys, I have been inspired. Like hard core. It all started in my photography class when we were told to look up Dorothy Shoes Photography.  Here is just a few examples of the amazing I found.

Incredible right? You could only imagine my excitement when we were asked to create a shoot inspired by the lovely Dorothy Shoes. I basically died... like for real. I can't even tell you how quickly ideas were popping into my head. I had to get my notebook out and start jotting everything down.

I go through a strange process when I am putting photographs together in my head. When I get an idea I first imagine the entire photograph. The colors, the texture, and what I want in the photograph. I am a little obsessed with people, so basically all my ideas include them. This is my weird process when it comes to people for my photos. I basically just imagine a bunch of characteristics. Things like dark hair, bright eyes, light skin, etc. Not a face, just characteristics. After I figure that all out, then I try to think of people I know or could find that have those characteristics. Does anyone else do this? It is like you start with one thing, and basically paint the person into the photograph. I don't know. I am strange.

I really am just STOKED for this assignment, and can't wait to get started. Hopefully it all works out so I can share them with you guys. Wish me luck!

I Think...

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Anyone else feel this way? This has been a major problem for me lately. Most of the time I am thinking of all the billion things I have to get done. It has been making me crazy, and I end up stressing out over the dumbest little things. I had know idea how to fix this, so I did what I do best... I made a list.

Like I literally got a piece of lined paper and a clip board, sat down in a comfy chair, and wrote a list of all the things that I HAD to do. I only wrote down the things that were absolutely necessary, and that had to be completed. You know what I found out? I really didn't have that much that I had to do. Hallelujah! Who knew all it took was making a simple list.

After I made my (short) list of things I HAD to do, I decided to make another list of all the things I should do that make me happy. Lately I have been in a huge rut. It kind of all came on at once. Like for real, the last two weeks I have been in a fashion, hair, health, creative inspiration rut. It has basically been miserable, so I decided to make a list of all the things that make me happy and to plan to do those things more. I took each thing I have been stressed about and figured out how to make it better. After I did that I wrote down some of my life mottos. Some of these include:

"If things are meant to happen, the will."

"Just be you. It doesn't matter what people think."

"Being creative and expressing your creativity is NEVER a bad thing, and don't ever let people make you feel like it is."

I know all of this seems kind of silly, but you know what? It helped so much. Taking the time to actually sit down for .2 seconds, and actually take the time to think things through does wonders for your worries. For me it is a list, but for someone else it could be going for a long walk. Or maybe it's listening to your favorite music. We are all inspired by different things, and we all have different situations. So if any of you lovelies out there are having a hard time or feel like you are in a rut, just take a little time for yourself to work things out. I wish I would have done this weeks ago!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

xoxo

Hair Dilema

Monday, March 18, 2013

So I have a bit of a dilemma. This weekend I am getting my haircut, and I have absolutely NO idea what I am going to do. So here I am asking all of you! Any suggestions for a fun hair cut?? I just need some inspiration. If you have any ideas/pictures be sure to leave a comment! Because for real, I have no clue what I am going to do!

  9. I'm not really sure why I love this so much, but I do.. so I am sharing it. (image via Oh, Hello Friend)
I apologize for being pretty absent lately. My spring break ended up being a lot busier than I had planned. Don't hate me, but I basically have no pictures. I know, I fail as a human. Some excited things happened though. My brother got his LDS mission call! He is going to Melbourne Australia! How freaking cool is that?! I still can't really wrap my head around it. I am so proud of him, and so unbelievably excited for him.

I told myself I wasn't going to go to a concert this week, but I caved (as usual). I went and saw The North Valley and The 2:13's play. So basically my two favorite local bands right now. It was a ton of fun, and I brought two friends with me that had never been to a show with me. Yay for dragging friends to concerts because my normal concert buddy is on a mission...

Overall, my spring break was actually really nice. There were a few unexpected bumps in the road, but nothing I couldn't handle. Anyone do something fun for spring break?
