I am not really sure what made me take these photos. All I know is that I was itching to take some black and whites, so I looked through my b&w pinterest board, and found some inspiration. Right away, I knew that I wanted the amazing Emma of Tightrope to the Sun to help me out with this. You will soon see why. Emma is STUNNING, and I am so grateful we have become friends. I seriously love this girl. She is a gorgeous human, and her writing is insane. Definitely check out her blog! It is incredible.

But yeah, I'm not really sure why I took these. I guess this is just the mood I was in. Kind of random, but I am very happy with them.

White On White

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

Here are the pictures I took for my latest photography assignment. Don't ask me how I came up with these. Just kind of popped into my head, and this is how it turned out. We could either choose to take abstract or white on white photos. I personally don't really like abstract photos all that much, so here are some white on white!

Kind of random, but I like how they turned out! Unfortunately, my class is almost over. It kind of sucks that we didn't get to start doing shoots like this until the very end of the semester. I would have liked to have more assignments that required some creativity. Oh well, I will just have to do that on my own!

Broken

Saturday, February 9, 2013

So earlier this week I grabbed my friend Emily and headed off to one of my favorite parks to take some pictures. This was kind of an intense photo shoot, and these photos really mean something to me. I put a lot of thought into these. They are inspired by someone I used to love and care for deeply. I guess the meaning behind these photographs is a person who has given up everything. They have been completely taken over by either a substance or by their own mind. I chose to depict this with cigarettes. It is just the hopelessness of someone feeling like they are trapped by something bigger than themselves. They are lost. They want to get away from it and free themselves, but they just can't. I don't know if that makes any sense, but that is the point I was trying to get across with these photos.

I have been in such a picture taking mode lately. I just keep writing down photo projects or ideas. My mind is on creative overload right now. I am hoping some cool things stem out of it. I don't really know where to start. Hopefully I can figure out something to do this next week.
Here are some random pictures I took while taking pictures. These are just some pictures I snapped as we were walking along. I love taking pictures blindly. It is amazing the pictures you come out with when you don't look through the view finder.

Well I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend! I am planning on making a dent in all these books I got from the library. I think I over did it just a bit, but I am determined to read all of them! Wish me luck.

Concert #1

Sunday, February 3, 2013

Alright, so I know I did a post last week saying I went to my first concert of the year. I have decided that it did not count as a concert, considering it was really just a dance party. I am counting the concert I went to last night as the first concert of the year! Mostly because it was absolutely fantastic! You know how I just love The North Valley, so it only makes sense to have them be the first concert of the year. Just sayin'

The last time I had this much fun at a concert was when I saw Grouplove in the summer. As of yesterday, I hadn't seen these guys play for a little over a month. It was so much fun to get to see them again, and I forgot how much I love their music. The North Valley was headlining, so they got to play a longer set than they usually get to. I think this added to the experience. I was so used to just hearing maybe five or six songs each show. It was awesome to get to hear them play a lot of their songs. They even played some old stuff which was fantastic! It really was just fantastic you guys.
My friend and I got there a little late, so our night started off with the 2:13's. I have nothing but good things to say about these guys. I have seen them play a couple times, and every time they just blow me away. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. They are disgustingly talented, and sometimes I couldn't help but laugh because I was so impressed I didn't know what else to do. They are unreal! They just released their first EP. Go check it out here or take a listen below. My favorite song of theirs at the moment would probably have to be Ruthless.

After the 2:13's finished their set The North Valley was up. It really was just a party. I have no idea who was controlling the sound and lights, but whoever it was clearly knew what they were doing. It really magnified the show. I was very impressed. You guys already know that I love these guys, so I am not going to say too much about it. All I have to say is this was by far their best show, and it is crazy how good they have gotten. You don't notice it when you go to every show, but after taking a little break I was pleasantly surprised at their skill level for this show. So bravo guys! Here is my absolute favorite song of theirs. You can find the rest of their music here.
