A Book Club

Monday, March 4, 2013

So here is a story for you all. Once upon a time there was a girl named Shelby (not me Shelby, a different Shelby). She had a lovely blog by the name It Is What It Is, and it was quite lovely. Well one day Shelby ( not me Shelby, the other Shelby) wrote this here post and it was also quite lovely. She talked about things like what she was doing for the weekend, and something about a Smart Girl's Book Club that would take place in Salt Lake, and something about a guy named Gatsby...

Alright, hold up! Book club? Gatsby? I instantly knew we had to be best friends. Like for real, how can she be real. So I did what any normal person would do. I invited myself to be a part of the book club. Yup, not creepy whatsoever. And guess what? I actually went! Yes, there was the .25 seconds that I prayed that I wasn't falling into the trap of a serial killer, but the chance to meet girls who had things like book clubs and read The Great Gatsby.. it was a chance I had to take.

So I show up at Blue Plate Diner at approximately 7:32pm only to then realize I was about to meet someone whom I had never met before... and who I had creepy blogger stalked on the Internet... and I was by myself. It made sense in my head until I was opening the door at the diner. That is when I started to have a little freak out in my head. Some thoughts might have been, "What the heck are you doing?!" and "Did I tell my family I loved them?" and quite possibly "Do I have my pepper spray?" Yeah, well all those ridiculous thoughts soon vanished when I saw a table of pretty much the coolest girls I have ever seen.

You could say I got lucky. Seriously, I am so thrilled that I went. The night was full of stories, deep thoughts, falling onto the floor (literally), and laughing too hard at crazy coincidences. So this post is for Shelby, McCall, Emma, and Allison. I seriously can't remember the last time I laughed so hard, and thank you for letting me invite myself into your awesome book club. You all are amazing, and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to meet you. Thanks for an amazing night and some hilarious stories!

P.s- "Thank you for defending my honor." Hahaha
