College Street Style: RexAnn

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

I am apologizing for the quality of these photos in advance. I had to use my VERY old little pink digital camera. I seriously have had this thing since like 7th grade. It is not even a camera. But I had to get this done, so everyone meet the wonderful RexAnn.
Name: RexAnn
Major: Nursing
What do you like to wear?
"Boots, sweaters, fun colors, and funky patterns!"

Thank you RexAnn for willing to do this even though I had a sucky camera, and because I made you sit outside in the cold while I told you about my crazy weekend! You are a trooper! P.s- I am thinking that Blue Star Chai Lattes should be a weekly tradition! Just saying.

I am proud to announce that awkward moments are at a stand still for me! This is such a joyous thing. I will treasure every second of it.

So my friend RexAnn (pictured above) has got me hooked on freaking Snap Chat. Who knew taking awful pictures and adding captions to them could be so much fun! I think the main reason I love it is because the majority of my friends don't live in SLC. This is a fun way to see what they are doing, and to see their face.

Well that is all for today. Happy Tuesday everyone!

The Weight

Monday, November 26, 2012

For this weeks Music Monday I have decided on a song from one of my all time favorite bands Thrice. To be completely honest, I didn't hear about Thrice until my junior year of high school, but after just one song I was sold. I am pretty sure the first song I ever heard by them was Deadbolt, which for some reason holds a special place in my heart. As soon as I heard it, I pretty much ran home to learn the piano outro.

The song I chose for today is The Weight, which is one of my favorite Thrice songs. This is one of those songs that you love because the lyrics are so brilliant. This has just always been a special song to me. It doesn't hold as much importance as it once did, but I still find myself falling in love with lyrics every single time. I am pretty sure I have had multiple Facebook status updates that contain the lyrics to this song. Thrice really is just brilliant. I am so sad that they aren't making music anymore, but I am grateful that I have been able to attend many of their shows and will always be able to enjoy their music.

Take the time to listen to Dustin sing this live. His voice is seriously unreal! Thrice is definitely one of those bands that when you hear them play live you just don't even know what to do with yourself. They are just freaking crazy amazing!

Happy Monday

CM Recap: Wheels on the Bus

Sunday, November 25, 2012

Alright, so today I should be telling you all about the fantastic things I found on pinterest this week, but I didn't use pinterest this week so I have nothing. Sorry. Instead, I am going to do my Criminal Minds recap that I should have done on Thursday, but it was Thanksgiving so I didn't want to.

There are very few things I have to say about this episode. It was a TON better than last weeks episode that is for sure! This whole episode was based around a video game, and the unsubs created a live version of the video game using real freaking people! How insane is that? I thought it was good, but I feel like they could have done a lot more with that idea. It was pretty intense, but there was a lot of slow parts throughout.

The only other thing I have to say about this episode is this... Freaking Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. Yup.

I wouldn't say I am disappointed with Criminal Minds, but I still am just freaking out because I don't know who freaking Reid's girlfriend is. I need to know! Like right now. They have dragged this out for to many episodes. They can't have this mystery girl be all, "I love you", and then never hear from her again! What the heck is this? If they don't bring her back into the story soon, I am going to throw something. Probably like a chair, or something big like that. It just needs to happen.

So remember how I said that I had no idea what I was going to do this weekend, because there weren't any I had the money to drive and go see? Yeah, well I lied. The North Valley decided to be sneaky and announce on Thanksgiving day that they were playing at the Spedelli's benefit show yesterday. Freaking stoked you guys, but kind of didn't know what to do at the same time. This was definitely the FOURTH show in a row that my friend Emily and I had been to. As in four weekends in a row we have been going to see these guys play. That is a freaking month you guys. That could totally be thought of as creeper status. Heck, that is creeper status! It turned out to be a fun night though! We got to talk to some of the guys after the show, and they are all pretty darn rad. They are pretty much as cool as there music, which is pretty much the coolest thing on the planet. Just saying. Emily and I are hoping that they take a break this week from playing shows, so we don't reach level expert of creepers. That would be FIVE weekends in a row. Especially since in two weeks they are playing two shows. Are we going to both... duh.

On a completely random note, we had a mouse. I say had, because we finally caught it after a week of trying. They little thing was sneaky. I don't know how, but it just kept licking all the peanut butter off the traps without getting caught! He was lucky for a while, but then one of them snapped. I was very disappointed. My dad got one of those catch and release traps just for me, but of course it went for the deathly head snapper thing. Oh why little mouse couldn't you have gone for MY trap. I tried to save you, but you decided to go through the death row (aka like 5 deathly head snapper things) and you failed. I am sorry little mouse. RIP.

I hope everyone has had a fabulous Thanksgiving break, and a fantastic Sunday. I know I sure have!

College Street Style: Jenna

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

I have noticed that just by the two sets of pictures I have taken for this post, you can see just how bipolar Utah's weather is. I honestly just don't understand. Anyways, everyone meet the lovely Jenna.
Name: Jenna
Major: Environmental Studies and Political Science
What do you like to wear?
"I like to wear contrasting colors, leggings, and flannels. All at the same time is preferred. And flats! I am not a big fan of boots."

I don't know about you, but I pretty much just died over this outfit. So fantastic. I love the pop of color the scarf gives. Plus, her hair is absolutely fantastic! This outfit just makes me happy. Thanks Jenna!

For the first time in three weeks, I am not planning on attending any concerts. It is kind of sad. I feel like it has become a weekend tradition. There are some concerts that I really want to go to this weekend (aka Desert Noises and Joe Brooks), but I just do not have the money OR the gas to attend them. It is quite sad. I don't really know what to do with myself. I am looking forward to having a nice break from school and work this week. I am just planning on hanging out at home, and spending time with my family. I figure I need to just sit and relax as much as I can before finals come up. They are just around the corner, and I am already stressing. I seriously just hate tests. Hopefully I can get through it.

The only class I am really worried about is my solar systems class. I swear this class is impossible! I just don't understand it at all. It needs to be done. Bianca and I both need to find smart people in the class, and make them teach us the ways of the universe. We just don't get it, and it sucks.

I guess I am also worried about math, but I feel like I don't have to bring up that one. Of course I am worried about math! I freaking hate math, and don't know how I have made it this far without just falling over on the sidewalk and crying. Anyone good at math? I could use all the help I could get.

Well I hope everyone has a lovely Tuesday, and has exciting plans for Thanksgiving!

From Finner

Monday, November 19, 2012

Whoo! It is Monday, which means it is time for another Music Monday post. Now I promised you that I wouldn't choose any more Grouplove or The North Valley songs for a while, so here is to keeping that promise.

This week I am giving Of Monsters and Men a little love, because they are also a favorite of mine. I honestly can't remember the first time I heard them. All I know is that it was sometime this past summer, and they instantly stole my heart. So here is my favorite Of Monsters and Men song at the moment.

"From Finner" by Of Monsters and Men

Remember how I said I was obsessed with names like Finley and Finner recently. Well I blame this song. I just think the collaboration of every one's voices in this band are phenomenal. I just can't stop listening to them. They are the band on your ipod that no matter what you can't skip their songs when they come up on shuffle. They are just awesome. I was actually thinking of driving to Colorado with one of my friends to see them play. They are THAT good. At least I think so. I hope you enjoy.

For each song I choose, I am going to try and find a GOOD live version of the song. I just always find a deeper respect for artists when they sound just as good live as they do on a recording.

Yesterday I promised pictures, so here are some photos of my life lately via Instagram. Enjoy!
  1. Letter from one of my kids at work. This is why I love my job!
  2. We had Kim's Cold-blooded Creatures come and give a presentation at work last week. After she is done giving the presentation she lets all the kids (and adults) hold all the animals. No worries, the snake was only like FORTY pounds. No big deal.
  3. Cutest little tree frog on the planet!
  4. The North Valley... duh
  5. STOKED out of my mind for my new concert tee!
  6. Mr. Skeleton Head. This is my lucky shirt. I wore it to the concert on Friday. One of the bands had black lights throughout their set. Lets just say my shirt was unreal!
  7. Richins siblings going to church. Yeah, I know what you are thinking! We are one attractive bunch.
Have a marvelous Monday!

My Weekly Pinterst Roundup

light

what to wear
 when i'm a mama

b&w inspiration

boys take notes

Well there is that. These are the things that inspired me this week. I find it crazy that just a photo can inspire you to either create something, or do something amazing. I think that is the only reason I continue to use Pinterest. I find so much inspiration on there. It is quite lovely.

I had one of the best weekends I have had in a really long time this past weekend. Everything really was just perfect. It isn't like anything extremely spectacular happened. It was just a good weekend, and nothing went wrong.

I was kind of nervous about this weekend mainly because of things that had happened earlier in the week, and because of possibly outcomes I knew could happen. I was kind of stressing out about it the whole week. I knew it wasn't something that I should stress about, so throughout the week I decided that I wasn't going to be upset with anything that happened. I wasn't going to expect anything, and I wasn't going to be upset if things didn't go my way. I know that is why I had such an amazing weekend. I just decided to stay postive no matter what, and because of that everything was great!

On Friday I drove down to Provo to go to a concert at Muse Music Cafe. I was super excited because a) I got to see one of my best friends that I haven't seen in forever, and b) I was going to see The North Valley play again (have I mentioned how awesome they are?). From the start I knew it was going to be an amazing night. Remember earlier in the week when I said I accidently added some random guy on Facebook? Yeah, well he played at this concert.... you guys, he is incredible! I seriously was just blown away with how good he was. I am definitely a fan, and plan on going to more shows. He is quite the performer. You can look up his fantastic music here. You can also look him up (Officer Jenny) on Facebook. I would highly recommend this.

Next up was Tighty Willis... I can't even describe them. They were also fantastic! The energy these guys had was unreal. They really just set the best mood, and the entire audience was just going crazy and having fun. They have very good music to dance to. I think that is half of why it was so great. Everyone was just dancing, and having an incredible time. It really was just unreal.

Last but definitely not least was The North Valley. This was seriously BY FAR the best show I had seen them play. Everyone was just dancing and singing along. It really makes a difference when you know the words to the songs that people are playing. It makes it a million times more enjoyable. They really are just so awesome you guys. Seeing them play once again was the perfect end of a fantastic night. I actually got one of their shirts this time! Whoo!

I hope everyone has had an amazing weekend. I definitely have. I will have pictures tomorrow! Yay!

CM Recap: The Fallen

Thursday, November 15, 2012

So it's time for another recap of the latest Criminal Minds episode, but first I will share with you my random thoughts for the day.

Alright, so season five of Gossip Girl FINALLY came to the library, so now I am back to watching Gossip Girl. I don't really know what it is about this show, but I love it. I know that it is one of the trashiest shows pretty much ever, but it brings me so much joy. I feel like everyone should be able to have a couple trashy tv shows that they enjoy. For me it is Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars. Don't judge me. So here is probably my biggest confession. It involves Gossip Girl. Do any of you guys watch it? If you don't you will have no clue what I am even talking about, but for those of you that do... you are probably going to shun me. Here it goes... I freaking want Dan and Blair to be together! I know it is crazy, and I am probably the only girl on the planet that wants this, but I just love them! I can't even explain it. They just need to be together. Even if it is just for a couple episodes. Okay that is a lie, they just need to be together. Alright.. I am so glad I got that out there. Haha

On an even more random note, is anyone being sent into a deep depression over how much gas is? Yeah, it can't just be me. I almost started crying as I saw the price reach $60 this morning. As soon as it passed $50 with no sign of stopping, I felt my body start to wilt. That was not a great start to the morning.

Here is something that cheered me up. Your welcome (This is seriously the funniest video of my life, and pretty much makes me pee my pants every time I watch it).

Alright, I think it is time to talk about some Criminal Minds! WARNING: I AM GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT THE NEW EPISODE OF CRIMINAL MINDS. SO IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET, I WOULD SUGGEST YOU DON'T GO ANY FURTHER.
I think that is good. So here are my thoughts... This episode wasn't my favorite. It was so tame! I know that sounds crazy. Since when is setting people on fire, and drowning them in bleach tame? Yeah...
The past couple episodes have been so insanely insane that this one left me feeling a little empty inside. So I will just share with you some of my random thoughts throughout the show. First off, girl singing in the park... holy freaking amazing! I was very impressed!
Next would have to be this line. I kind of died! Haha Oh Reid, how I love you.
Seriously though, why is he so funny? And why is his hair so freaking fantastic? Moving on...
Suddenly, OUT OF NOWHERE a crazy Reid appears... with milk. Alright then.
Really the only other comment I have about this episode is what the country music playing at the end? It was strange.

The good thing about this episode is it was a tribute to veterans which I greatly admire. So good job Criminal Minds!

That is it for today. I am ready for what I am sure is going to be a crazy weekend. Like seriously, I have been preparing myself for this weekend since like Tuesday. There are just a lot of different scenarios as to how it could go, so it should be interesting. I am sure I will have a story for you by Monday. Get ready!

College Street Style: Emily

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Alrighty, so it is nice and freezing here in Utah. Because of this, there are a lot less people riding bikes. I am going to switch over to college street style for a while. I hope you are all ok with this. So here is to my first college street style post!

Name: Emily
Major: French
What do you like to wear?
"I like wearing dresses, and things that remind me of the forties."

Thank you Emily for letting me take photos of your adorable outfit! Thankfully, Emily is a very good friend of mine, so it wasn't that awkward. Yay for things not being awkward! Haha Don't you just love those red rain boots? I seriously just die over them every time I see them!

I have decided I really want to be in a band. Like really bad you guys. There is just one small problem... I have not musical talent. Like none whatsoever! I am pretty sure I wouldn't even be able to play the tambourine. This proves to be a problem, because how fun would it be to be in a band?? I will tell you. A freaking ton of fun! I already go to enough concerts. Might as well be doing something rather than just standing there. Maybe I could be a back up dancer or something! Oh wait, I can't dance... I think this is a lost cause. I will just have to enjoy concerts from the sidelines. Darn it!

As I was getting dressed today, I realized that I pretty much put on the exact outfit I wore for Halloween. What is the problem with this you might ask? Well as many of you know, I was Dr. Spencer Reid for Halloween aka a boy. Oops. Did I change after I realized this? Absolutely not.

Another thing I believe I have mentioned is that I usually take the bus to school every day. I actually enjoy taking the bus. It gives me a half hour to just relax, and listen to music. It is pretty fantastic, but using public transportation has it's.... set backs. Here is today's example. For some reason a man who I am pretty sure had just smoked an entire pack of cigarettes decided to sit right in front of me. I am sorry, but I really just don't like the smell of cigarette smoke. I don't care if people choose to smoke. That is 100% their choice. I do find it kind of disgusting, but that is just my opinion. Anyways, I guess you could say I was not to thrilled, but I dealt with it. So there I was, dealing with the smoke of death smell, when on walks a human with body odor that over powered the smell of the death smoke. I am not joking you guys. It was pretty awful. These are the days where I greatly regret taking public transportation. The bus smells.

My only other random thought for today is I have decided I really like the names Finley and Finner. I don't really know how I came to this conclusion. It just happened I guess. It might have to do with the fact that I keep hearing the name Fin, and I am constantly listening to the song "From Finner" by Of Monsters & Men. Those are just assumptions though. Who really knows.. haha

Well I hope everyone is having a fantastic Tuesday.

Music Monday

Monday, November 12, 2012

I did this on my other blog, so I have decided to bring it back and try it out here. As you know from my last post, music is something that is really important to me. So each week I will pick my favorite song of the moment, and tell you why I love that song. Sound good?

To start things off, I figured it would be good to pick a song from one of my favorite bands. Yes, it is a Grouplove song. The song is "Close Your Eyes and Count to Ten."

To be honest, I am still trying to figure out why I like this song so much. I mean, there is howling at the beginning...howling! And I absolutely love it. I think the thing I love about Grouplove is they always start rocking out at the perfect moment. They usually start things out nice and slow, and then out of nowhere BOOM! I think that might be why seeing them live was one of the funnest experiences I have ever had. Everyone is enjoying the music, and then it just gets crazy! It isn't like death metal crazy though. People aren't punching each other in the face, or freaking out on each other. Nothing like that. Grouplove's music is very upbeat, and just happy. I don't know. They are just awesome. I think they are genius. It probably helps that I have a crush on Christian Zucconi... and an even bigger crush on Hannah Hooper.

Just give them a listen. I will try to give you something besides Grouplove or The North Valley next week. I just couldn't help myself! It was the first post. Might as well be an absolute favorite on all levels!

I guess I should say a little bit more about the rest of my weekend. Unfortunately, nothing exciting happened after the concert on Friday. On Saturday I was planning on going to the Battle of the Bands at Muse Music Cafe to see Eli Whitney play, but I am poor and didn't have enough gas to drive to Provo. Instead, I sat at home and watched Criminal Minds. I was actually completely happy about this. I watched a very intense episode! I also figured out that if you are watching Criminal Minds and something INSANE happens at the end of an episode, you HAVE to go get ice cream in order to watch the next episode. You seriously just have to. So that is exactly what I did! It was fantastic.

That is pretty much all I did. Besides that, I am just enjoying the awkward situations I seem to create for myself on a daily basis. I seriously just have to laugh at the things that happen to me sometimes. Example for today... accidentally adding someone who you have never met on Facebook. Then finding out that out of everyone you could have accidentally added, you added someone that is playing at the concert you are going to this weekend. I honestly don't even know how these things happened to me, but I am just rolling with it!

Have a fabulous Monday!

Things I Love: Concerts

Saturday, November 10, 2012

So if I had to pick one thing to be my favorite thing, it would probably be concerts. I absolutely love going to concerts! I always find that I am most happy at concerts, or just enjoying music. I am NOT musically inclined, but music has always been something that has been extremely important to me. I think it is important to everyone in some sense. I don't really know where I would be without music.

I guess I should try to explain why I love concerts so much. The truth is, I don't really know. It isn't something I can really describe. It is just something I feel. It is one thing to listen to music through speakers, or headphones. Listening to music live, like the band is in front of you, going crazy, and playing music... I seriously can't even describe it. I think I like it because you can SEE there passion. You see them play these songs, and you know that each one has a deeper meaning than you could ever even begin to understand. They wrote every single song for a reason, and because of some kind of experience. Music is life. It tells people's life stories. It is just crazy how you connect with someone you have never even met all because of some words and chords. It seriously boggles my mind! So I guess it is the passion.

I think another reason I love concerts is it is the only setting where I feel completely comfortable letting loose. I don't care what people think about me anymore. If I want to dance, I am going to dance. If I want to just stand there, I am just going to stand there. It is a time where it is just me, the band, and the crowd. It isn't about individual people. It is about all of us coming together as a group to enjoy something we all love. To feel the music, and just rock out!

I am not going to even try to figure out how many concerts I have been to. I seriously have lost count. I know it exceeds all my fingers and toes...by A LOT. I guess it is because concerts are the only thing that I think are worth my money. Concerts are one of the only things I am willing to spend money on. It's because I know the experience is always worth it. I usually don't go to concerts where I don't at least know one of the bands playing, and if I do the concert is usually only like $5 or something. Worth it right? It can either be a disaster, or it can be amazing! I haven't ever had an experience where I have gone to a concert, and didn't like AT LEAST one of the bands. Therefore, I am pretty much always willing to check it out.

I guess the reason I brought this up is because I go to a lot of concerts, and I post about a lot of concerts. It is something you will frequently see on my blog. Of course I have to talk about it afterward!

So yesterday I went to a concert. Haha You guys, it was fantastic AND I found a new awesome band. My friend and I traveled the long journey to Mojo's Cafe which is in Ogden. We both had never really been to Ogden before, and we were pleasantly surprised by the cute little town that it was. Of course it was practically a blizzard outside, so it felt like quite the accomplishment getting there in once piece, and ZERO close calls. Anyway, Mojo's is probably my favorite thing on the planet. It reminds me of Muse Music Cafe, but the people are nicer and more laid back. You walk back to where the stage is, and it is just a room full of tables, chairs, couches, awesome art, and cool lights. It seriously has one of the coolest atmospheres ever.

Here is something you probably don't know about me. One of my biggest dreams is to one day open a little coffee shop, and have a stage where I can invite local bands to come and play. If I needed a model of what I have in my mind, it would be Mojo's. It really is just awesome, and I plan on going to more shows there.

So my friend and I traveled all that way to go see The North Valley. Yes, that is the band I talked about last week. Yes, that is the band we say LAST weekend. Definitely don't see a problem with this... especially since the same friend and I are going to go see another one of their shows next weekend. Three weekends in a row seeing the same band... I pretty much see nothing wrong with this. You guys, they are so good! Like seriously, it is unreal. The guys are hilarious, and their music is kind of indescribable. I seriously have tried to explain it to people, and I just can't. You HAVE to listen to it yourself. They played with two other bands. Up first was Mermaid Baby. They were fantastic! It is just three guys, but they are awesome. Plus, the lead singer has pretty much the coolest hair on the planet. I love me some long curly hair. We have already discussed how this is a problem. Anyway, they played first and then it was The North Valley's turn. I definitely loved them a lot more this time than I did at Kilby Court, which is saying A LOT because I love them. I have only seen two other bands multiple times (Thrice and Flyleaf), and they were both over the space of several months or a year. I have never seen the same awesome band two weekends in a row. I don't know why, but it really makes it so much more fun! It is like you recognize how each band member feels the music, and it is funny to see that they always act the same. I don't really know how to explain it. It is just enjoyable. Plus, the played "Dianthus" which is one of my favorite songs by them. I don't think they play it that often, because the song is like seven minutes long. Haha It was so good though! My friend Emily and I are also obsessed with the song "Riverside", so it was so fun getting to hear that. I think the best part is we are still learning the music, and it is getting more fun now that we are starting to learn the words to their songs, and knowing which song is which. I don't know people! It was just so much fun!!

The last band to play was called Hectic Hobos... they were interesting. Haha They are insanely good musicians, but we both weren't digging the guys voice. We left after a couple of their songs.

Well I guess all that's left is to show you some instagram pics of the event. That is kind of a must right?
 Mermaid Baby
The North Valley

I will also leave you with this link to watch The North Valley singing "Riverside." I seriously have had this on repeat since they posted it on Twitter a couple days ago. It is sooo good!
P.s- Sorry I am not smart enough to get the video on here. Anyone know how to do that?

CM Recap: The Apprenticeship

Friday, November 9, 2012

Alrighy folks. So as you many know, I am completely OBSESSED with Criminal Minds. Like you don't even understand. So because of this I have decided to do a Criminal Minds Recap of all my favorite moments of the newest episodes. Hopefully, I can make this a weekly thing. Considering I love talking about Criminal Minds, I don't think I will have a problem.

These posts will contain many spoilers, so I will get all my randomness out about my actual life at the beginning of these posts so if you watch Criminal Minds and haven't seen the episode, I won't ruin it. Let's be honest though. I am guessing a lot of you don't watch it anyway, so you can just enjoy my rambling.

First off, yesterday was crazy. Like it was crazy. I even have a story about it! Here it goes. My friend and I (my friend will remain anonymous) have the biggest crushes on these two guys in one of our classes. We are talking like full on junior high crushes here people! Of course having a junior high crush on someone means acting like junior high girls around them, and giving them nicknames like Jude Law and Adam Sevani. But seriously, those are there nicknames. It is important information I promise. They might just look like said people as well. Like seriously people, they really do. One guess as to which one I have a crush on. If Adam Sevani didn't automatically come to your mind then we need to get to know each other a little better. If you don't know who Adam Sevani is... I am appalled.

So here is what went down. My friend and I usually sit in the library before the class with the cute guys. Yesterday, the library was pretty full so we decided to walk up to the Union instead. As we are walking to the Union, Jude Law rides by on his bicycle! So of course my friend and I turn, look at each other, burst out laughing, and awkwardly watch him lock up his bike. We now had a decision to make. Do we follow him into the library like creepers, or do we casually continue walking to the library?

So we are walking back towards the library when we pass his bike, and my friends says, "I should just write him a note telling him that I like his bike...and him." Of course I think this is a BRILLIANT idea, so what do we do? We write him a note. The note went something along the lines of, "I like your bike...and your face." Details aren't needed, but she did sign it as "the girl down the row." This is important information because we ALWAYS sit down the row from them. We usually sit just a couple seats away. So as I stood guard, my friend oh so casually (not really) went and put the note on his bike. And then we ran.

So there is some background. Did I mention we had class with both Jude Law and Adam Sevani only about 20 minutes later. Yeah, we are sneaky. So anyway, we are sitting in class and I am doing what every good college student does during class... sits on Facebook and finds new music. Oh wait, that's just me? Anyways, I found some awesome new music, but I had forgotten my i pod chord. After I found out that both myself and my friend didn't have one I thought of the brilliant idea to ask Adam Sevani and Jude Law if they might have one. Worst. Mistake. Ever!

First off, this was pretty much the first thing I have ever said to either of them. So I casually asked them both if either of them had one, and Jude Law told me he might. There was a lot of lag time while he tried to find it, so I just sat there awkwardly waiting trying to look busy which I obviously wasn't. After he told me he couldn't find it we made awkward eye contact and I knew.... I KNEW at that moment that he thought I was the one who put the note on his bike. FML! This is not good people! I just wanted to scream, "NO!!!!! It's not you! I don't like you! I like your friend! It is your friend I like!!!! Everything is ruined!!"

So now I have to do everything in my power to make sure he doesn't think that I am the one that is interested. That is a lot of work people. And this is a junior high crush, so I can't just TELL him! He is supposed to read my mind, and just know that it is not him, but his friend... Adam Sevani. So I am trying to figure out what to do, and I will make sure to keep you all updated.

Now for Criminal Minds. WARNING: From here on out there will be major spoilers!!!! Read on if you dare!

Alright, glad that's over with. There isn't to much I want to say about this last episode except for the fact that it was insanely twisted! What the 15 year old killer?!? I am now afraid of EVERYBODY. Haha

By far the best part was first off, all the scenes with Reid. Second off, the softball game. I can't even begin to describe the happiness that was brought to me when I saw Reid playing softball. Best. Thing. Ever! I have found some photos to share.
Dying!
Can we please just talk about this run?! I honestly almost dropped to the floor because I was laughing so hard. This doesn't even give it justice. It is the most hilarious and awkward run I have probably EVER seen. One of the many reasons I love Reid. Haha

He literally THROWS himself at the plate. Let's just say the whole 30 seconds that all of this happened were pure enjoyment, and completely awkward. So freaking good!

And of course the cutest picture of my boys! They seriously have the best relationship on the show. Love them.

That is pretty much the end. Have a fantastic weekend!

The North Valley

Saturday, November 3, 2012

Alrighty my friends. Yesterday I went and saw The North Valley play at Kilby Court with my good friend Emily. You guys... we are kind of obsessed. They seriously killed it! It is kind of crazy how I found out about this band. So first off you should know that I have a super soft spot for black and white photos. I don't really know why. They are just my favorite. I love the mood of black and white photos. Anyway, I was on Instagram and one of my friends had like one of The North Valley's photos. It was in black and white, so naturally I clicked on it to see what it was. I found out that it was a local SLC band, so I decided to look them up on Facebook. The rest is pretty much history. I listened to one song, and was completely hooked. It helps that the band members are all pretty easy on the eyes. Just sayin'.

Two weeks later I found out they were playing a show at Kilby, and I frantically asked friends to join me. Emily so kindly accepted, and we were off to see what is now one of our favorite bands. They seriously are just awesome. You know those bands that are just fun to watch? The bands that are just so into the music, so it makes you really into the music? Well if you don't know a band like that you are seriously missing out, and if you do that is The North Valley. You can tell these guys really just LOVE what they are doing. It is purely for fun, meeting people, and making music with their buddies. They have got a good vibe. I usually don't say stuff like that, but it's the only thing that seems fitting.

They have a couple upcoming shows, so if you guys want to check them out I would definitely recommend it! Tickets are usually under $10 as well! How could you say no to that!? There upcoming shows are:

11.9.12 at Mojos in Ogden
11.16.12 at Muse Music in Provo

Listen/buy their music here!

Here are some videos as well! I couldn't find any newer videos, so here are some posted by the band early this year.

I tried taking pictures of these guys, and I failed miserably! I do not know how to operate a digital camera. I just don't. All of my photos came out blurry, so you are getting some blurry photos. I really am so sorry. Again, WARNING: PHOTOS ARE BLURRY. Ok, now you can't get mad at me. I have clearly stated that they are blurry. If you can't handle blury photos then DO NOT scroll down!

Life Lately: Halloween Edition

Thursday, November 1, 2012

So apparently it has been forever and a day since I have posted about my life lately. Oops. Moving on. I don't know if I have told you all this, but I LOVE HALLOWEEN. Like seriously, it is my favorite holiday out of all of the holidays. I love dressing up. I love candy. I love scary movies. I love haunted houses. I love all things spooky. I just love Halloween! Yeah.

So I pretty much just was in love with my costume. It all came together very last minute aka the day before Halloween. I had been planning on spending Halloween with Bianca, and some of her friends. For some reason it didn't dawn on me that I needed to dress up until she was asking me what I was going to dress up as... the day before. I went into a little bit of a panic (not really). It was then that inspiration struck me. I just knew it was perfect. I would be the most amazingly perfect human specimen to walk the earth. His name (yes, his) is....

Dr. Spencer Reid
(aka Matthew Gray Gubler, aka the perfect human)

I said it out loud, and from that point I was committed. After school I went straight to Urban Outfitters and Forever 21. Did I get weird looks for shopping in the men's section? You know I did! Except for in Urban. They didn't give me weird looks there. Anyways, I searched the racks for sweater vests, sweaters, earth tones, checkered button ups, and of course the famous Reid half-frame wayfarer glasses. I constantly was sending pics to my girls Paige and Rexann making sure that everything I chose was "Reid" enough. After getting the ok from them I bought my items, and headed out of those stores with success in my hands. I seriously scored some awesome finds you guys! Especially the glasses that were actually sunglasses at first. I had to have the guy at Urban take the lenses out for me, because I knew I would break them. It is a good thing I did! He ended up having to go into the back room and use a tool to get one of them out!

Anyways, I was extremely psyched to be Reid. It was quite the process you guys. It involved four pairs of pants, three different hairstyles, five different shirts, a "how to tie a tie" YouTube video, and purple eyeshadow for the Gubler eyes. After all of this I would like to say I came out victorious!

Success!!

Other than my AWESOME costume, my Halloween consisted of too much candy, donuts, queso dip, friends, car rides, Criminal Minds, High School Musical China (which I would go as far as to say it could be classified as a horror movie), and handing out candy to one little cute watermelon. Soo I would have to say Halloween was a success.

Other than Halloween, life has been pretty normal. School is still kicking my butt, and work is work. I am extremely excited for next semester of school though. I am taking a digital photography class! Finally I will know how to ACTUALLY edit photos. None of this faking it business. I also have no clue how to use a digital camera, so that might be nice as well. I hope everyone had an awesome Halloween. Any fun costumes?

Here are the rest of my Instagram photos of things that have been happening lately. They go back to like two weeks ago. Oops.
Long story short. One of my dogs bit this dog in the butt. It resulted in poor Bentley having to wear my little brother's underwear.
Officially decided to go back to wearing converse.
Switchfoot! This was a teenage dream fulfilled.
I was so excited to go see "Perks of Being a Wallflower" that I took this picture.
My Gublerland package!! And my awesome new stickers that are so proudly being displayed on my laptop.
Happy Gublerween! And a nice note from the head Gube himself.
Poor Bentley and his butt injury :(
My Reid glasses that I can't seem to stop wearing. Even though they have no lenses..

Well there you have it. That right there is what has been happening in my life lately. Pretty crazy stuff right?! Yeah, not too much happens on a day to day basis in the life of Shelby. Just A LOT of awkward moments. Nothing wrong with that right? What I am looking forward to at the moment is the fact that it's No Shave November. Oh yeah, baby! Campus is about to get a lot more enjoyable. Haha I don't know what it is about a man with a beard. It is just a good thing. Oh, and I am going to see The North Valley with some friends tomorrow night! So stoked!!! Check them out here. I kind of love them at the moment, so I am very happy that they are playing in SLC. Whoo!

Hope everyone has had a fantastic Thursday!
